「毎回、この展覧会を楽しみにしてます」「今回もすごく楽しい展覧会でした！」 これは「躍動する現代作家展」に毎年足を運んでくださるお客様から寄せられた声です。

国立新美術館では毎年約81の美術公募展が開催されていますが、その中でも現代を生きるアーティストに焦点を当てた国際公募展が、この「躍動する現代作家展」です。絵画・立体・写真・デザイン・空間造形・インスタレーション・CG・アニメーションなど、ジャンルを超えた多様な表現が一堂に会し、まさに“今の時代のアート”を映し出す鏡のような場となっています。

異なる表現が同じ空間に並び、どの作品も高いクオリティで見応えがある――その混在こそが現代の多様性を象徴し、本展が唯一無二の展覧会である理由のひとつです。来場者が「楽しい」と感じるのも、この豊かな表現世界が生み出す体験によるものだと言えるでしょう。

16回目を迎える今回は、北海道から沖縄まで全国各地、さらに韓国・中国・アメリカ・ヨーロッパなど海外からも多くの現代アーティストが参加。これまでに約2,500名以上の作品を紹介してきました。年齢層は10代から90代まで幅広く、プロとして活躍する作家から、アマチュアからプロへ転向した後も出品を続ける作家まで、多彩な表現者が集います。自由な創作を国立新美術館という舞台で発表できることは、現代作家にとって大きな魅力となっています。

The National Art Center, Tokyo hosts approximately 81 art exhibitions annually, but among them, the "Dynamic Contemporary Artists Exhibition" is an international open call exhibition focusing on contemporary artists. Painting, sculpture, photography, design, spatial design, installation, CG, animation, and other diverse forms of expression transcend genres, bringing together a space that truly reflects "art of the present era."

The coexistence of different forms of expression in the same space, with each work of high quality and captivating to behold—this blend symbolizes the diversity of the modern age and is one of the reasons why this exhibition is unique. The enjoyment visitors feel stems from the experience created by this rich world of expression.

Now in its 16th year, this exhibition features numerous contemporary artists from all over Japan, from Hokkaido to Okinawa, as well as from overseas, including South Korea, China, the United States, and Europe. To date, it has showcased the works of over 2,500 artists. The age range of participants is wide, from teenagers to those in their 90s, and the exhibition brings together a diverse range of artists, from professionally active artists to those who have transitioned from amateur to professional and continue to exhibit their work. The opportunity to present their free creative expression on the stage of the National Art Center, Tokyo, is a major attraction for contemporary artists.
